This survey has also collected the data that will be used to report on SDG 4, particularly the indicator on proficiency in reading and mathematics by different grade levels (indicator 4.1.1).

3. Comprehensive School Evaluation:

Unlike other assessments conducted in the past, such as the NAS, this will be an all-inclusive initiative that will grade schools of different types, including government, private, and central schools.

Over 22 lakh students of class 3, 6 and 9 will take part. In all, the survey will cover 75,565 schools in 782 districts of India.

≥ Grade 9: Extended assessment in Language, Mathematics, Science and Social Science.

The testing times range from 90 minutes for Grades 3 and 6 to 120 minutes for Grade 9.

Implementation and Methodology

-Paper-based testing:

The data collection will be accurate and efficient with the use of OMR sheets.

In order to facilitate smooth implementation, more than 3,000 district-level coordinators have been trained under PARAKH along with hundreds of field investigators. Workshops were conducted all over the country in order to prepare the educational functionaries.

Significance

- Policy Making: Data from this survey will help policymakers improve education systems, targeting specific gaps and needs. Educational Reforms: The insights will help teachers and administrators improve their practices with the overall aim of improving student outcomes and efficiency in the system.
